About The Attorney

Jimbo Yocom

What Makes Attorney Jimbo Yocom Uniquely Qualified To Represent You?

Jimbo Yocom was born and raised in Minden, Webster Parish, Louisiana. As a child, Jimbo was diagnosed with “retinitis pigmentosa,” a retinal disease that causes him to be legally blind. This disease is presently untreatable, and as a result, Jimbo is unable to see well enough to read or drive. However, anyone who knows Jimbo will tell you that he does not let it hold him back from going after his dreams. Being raised in a broken home and having little money, Jimbo learned early on the value of hard work and perseverance. This has driven him to overcome any obstacle that may stand in his way, which makes him an outstanding advocate for whatever cause he is fighting for.

In 2007, he graduated from Lakeside High School, after which he began working in full-time ministry. Jimbo went on to attend Louisiana Tech University (HOW BOUT THEM DOGS!?), where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing and Economics.

After receiving his Business Degree, Jimbo attended the Mississippi College School of law in Jackson, Mississippi. While there, he earned his Doctorate of Juris Prudence and his civil Law Certification for Louisiana Law.

While in Law School, Jimbo was blessed to receive many notable awards for both academic excellence and outstanding performance in the Court room. He served as an Associate-Editor of the Mississippi College Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board.

While serving on Moot Court, he was able to compete in four national competitions and was awarded the “Best Advocate Award” in two national competitions. Jimbo would go on to win the Mississippi Moot Court Competition. It was on Moot Court that Jimbo was able to develop his skills as an advocate in the court room.

Jimbo also excelled in the classroom, receiving the American Juris Award (“Am. Jur”) for having the highest score in the following classes:

Criminal Law, Torts II, Contracts II, Jurisprudence, Louisiana Civil Procedure, Civil Law Obligations, Federal Tax, Civil Law Sales & Leasing, Civil Law Successions & Donations, Deposition Skills, Louisiana Mineral Rights, and Trial Practice

Rather than pursue a job in a major city, Jimbo returned home to Minden, where he became a Felony Prosecutor for the twenty-sixth Judicial District Attorney’s office, where he still serves today. After opening the Yocom Law Firm in January of 2020, Jimbo became the City Attorney for Minden and continues to provide legal representation to the City.

In his spare time, Jimbo enjoys volunteering at the Annual St. Jude Auction and doing all he can to help his community grow. Jimbo also is an avid hunter and fisherman. (yes, he can see well enough to hunt… with a REALLY GOOD SCOPE).

But above all else, Jimbo loves God and his family. He has a wonderful wife and two beautiful young children, which are his greatest priority. Faith and family always come first to Jimbo, and this is evident when seeing him practice law. So when you need an attorney, look no further than the Yocom Law Firm, your hometown law firm, and DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS!
